Gestures
A symbolic act… and movement.
The Cambridge dictionary defines gestures as a nouns. A noun as movement or symbolic act. Although they have separated the two meanings, I believe gestures are symbolic acts enabled by movement.
You can briefly be offended by a gesture. There is also a lasting impact by a thoughtful gesture too. We remember the rude ones, but the thoughtful ones make become ingrained. Without thought you pull it out when you need it the most, or something reminds you of it. A smile draws across your face and the bounce in your step is higher than the one before.
The thoughtful gesture are premium ones 🤌🏻.
I am lucky enough to have friends that turn into family. Naturally falling smoothly into a part of my (our) life, that feels even more genuine because you aren’t forced but chosen.
This morning pre 7 am, the phone rang with a message saying a present was on the way. A present in the form of freshly baked sourdough.
This altruistic gesture was delivered just past 7am with the added bonus of half a dozen freshly laid eggs (with hens I’ve met personally) 🐓.
This gesture not only took thought but planning, if you’re aware of the process of making sourdough it’s one of length, commitment and patience.
This particular loaf is next level with thought. It’s created with organic stoneground flour which is rightly considered the gold standard of flour. Stoneground to keep the whole grains nutritious value, as well as an excellent superior flavour. Organic, meaning pesticide and herbicide free ensuring soil health and the ecosystem is left untouched and able to thrive. Filtered water expertly purified through a Berky water system. Celtic sea salt mineral dense and with hydrating properties to naturally hydrate the body. Folded and stretched multiples times with precision timings to make sure the loaf is bouncy in elevation and perfectly distributed. Almost 2 days after the initial process takes place it’s ready for the oven.
The knife cut through the loaf like butter. Still warm and with an exceptional crust. It was tempting to just slice it up and dip it in raw butter (Fen Farms Bungay. Elite). But considering this loaf came with eggs from chickens that live in essentially a chicken ‘Blue Light Zone’, out came the pans.
Aligned with the theme length, patience and commitment I went with dippy egg. Paired with a bowl of organic berries and a delicious long black from All Caps La Joya beans it was everything you’d need for a truly delicious Sunday breakfast.
Shoutout to the morning May sun giving these pictures a golden glow it deserves.
